Huawei China announced the new Android smartphone "HUAWEI Mate 20 Pro" with a built-in fingerprint sensor on the display on October 16 (UK summer time). Simply place your finger on the display to read your fingerprint and unlock the security lock. The price starts from 1049 euros (about 136,000 yen). The release in Japan is undecided.
The flagship model of the "HUAWEI Mate 20" series announced by the company. The built-in fingerprint sensor is said to have been realized by "ergonomic design and dynamic pressure sensing technology" (the company).
The Mate 20 Pro is equipped with a 6.39-inch (3120 x 1440 pixels, 538ppi) organic EL (OLED) display, a three-lens out-camera, and an in-camera that supports 3D face recognition. The processor is a self-developed "HUAWEI Kirin 980" (8 cores), and the top model has 8GB of memory and 256GB of storage. The OS adopted the latest Android 9.0 Pie. The size is 72.3 (width) x 157.8 (depth) x 8.6 (height) mm, and weighs about 189 grams.
Technologies that incorporate a fingerprint sensor in the display include Synaptics's "Clear ID", Qualcomm's "Sense ID", and Japan Display (JDI)'s development. As a smartphone with similar technology, in January this year, China Vivo announced the "vivo X20Plus UD (fingerprint version)" for the Chinese market.
