Huawei's new flagship smartphone "HUAWEI Mate 20 Pro" is now available. It is sold by Huawei Japan and MVNO as SIM lock-free, and Softbank by major carriers.
"HUAWEI Mate 20 Pro"Equipped with a curved organic EL display of approximately 6.39 type (3120 x 1440 pixels), realizing a high screen occupancy rate by embedding a fingerprint sensor in the display. The top-end processor "Kirin 980" is equipped with two NPUs (neural processing units) that automatically perform arithmetic processing with AI, further improving performance and power efficiency.
It has a built-in large-capacity battery of about 4200mAh, and supports Huawei's own "HUAWEI 40W SuperCharge" that can charge up to about 70% in 30 minutes and wireless charging. It also supports IP68 water and dust resistance.
As you can see, the Mate 20 Pro stands out for its high specs, but the most recommended one is the "camera". what's amazing We asked Mr. Kei Ogikubo for a thorough review at Tama Zoological Park.
I would like to talk about how I went to Tama Zoological Park with my smartphone and was able to take better and cooler photos than I expected. For those of you who don't know, Tama Zoological Park was created by carving out a vast hilly area called Tama Hills. It's a zoo.
When it comes to, I think, "Isn't it difficult to use a telephoto because it's wide?" It's tempting to bring a lens with you, but walking around a large, rugged zoo with heavy equipment is very difficult. That's where the Mate 20 Pro comes in. With this single smartphone, you can shoot both telephoto and super wide-angle.
First, let's take a look at this photo of the camera section. The new Leica triple camera.
There are four circles on the center of the body. Flash is white. The other 3 are cameras.
Huawei realized a triple camera with the P20 Pro, but at that time it was a main wide-angle camera, a monochrome camera for monochrome shooting & distance measurement during wide aperture, and a 3x telephoto camera. This time, the configuration has changed to "ultra-wide-angle camera", "wide-angle camera" and "3x optical zoom".
This greatly expands the range that can be photographed. The out-camera is a "wide-angle camera", so based on that, the super wide angle is displayed as "0.6x" and the telephoto is displayed as "3x", but in the world of cameras, when expressing the magnification of the lens, the "widest angle" condition”.
Based on the super wide angle on the Mate 20 Pro, it is "5x" from super wide angle to telephoto. For those who are familiar with cameras, if you look closely at the above photo, it says "16-80" in terms of 35mm format conversion. This means 16mm to 80mm. The wide angle side is super wide angle equivalent to 16 mm.
This is a view of the African Elephant Corner at Tama Zoological Park from the observatory.
This wide feeling is unique to the ultra-wide angle.
The three cameras have different numbers of pixels, but you don't have to worry about it. The terminal side automatically handles the details, and the wide-angle and telephoto cameras record in 10M size, and the ultra-wide-angle camera records in 20M size.
If you hold the terminal and tap the place where "1x" is written, it will automatically switch in order from "1x" → "3x" → "5x" → "0.6x" → "1x". You can also change the magnification instantly by sliding left and right on the place where it is written.
The device will decide when to use which of the three cameras, so you don't have to worry about it.
First, let's take a picture of an elephant and compare.
This is 1x. This is the standard angle of view for the out-camera. A couple of elephants were near the wall, so it didn't fit well, and the important elephant was far away.
Tap where it says "1x" to make it 3x.
I'm here I'm here Three times as expected. The two elephants fit neatly together. If you can take only this much, it is usually OK.
Then telephoto to 5x. As a lens, it's up to 3x, but up to 5x means you can take beautiful pictures without sacrificing image quality. By the way, when it is set to 5x, it is equivalent to 135mm in 35mm full size conversion. It's quite a telephoto.
After all, you can capture elephants' playfulness so beautifully.
It's cute to see them playing with each other with their long noses.
So here's what I think. I like close-ups of animals, but I want to see the whole place where elephants are. I want to keep the atmosphere of the Tama Zoological Park elephants in such a place. Then it's time for an ultra-wide-angle lens. 0.6x.
You can see that it spreads to a super wide angle.
The Tama Zoological Park is a hilly area, so there are undulating greenery behind it, there is a bathing area, an elephant house with a pointed roof, and the blue sky in the background makes it a very pleasant place. Because you can understand it at once. Super wide-angle suits the zoo!
