Awesome City Club talks about being prepared to focus on "other than" trends

Musicality that perfectly absorbs domestic and international trends, the gorgeous looks of the mixed male and female members, and the strategic decision to keep uploading songs on SoundCloud without releasing any sound sources until their official debut. Awesome City Club, who has become a hot topic for their fun and has suddenly joined the ranks of popular bands, has already announced their second album "Awesome City Tracks 2". Even after the release of the 1st album, they have been developing multi-faceted activities such as producing singles through crowdfunding, but frontman atagi needs to reconsider "what is good music?" It is said that he felt sexuality. "Awesome City Tracks 2", which was completed at the end of that trial and error, is a work with a high amount of heat that packages the band's turning point that has already arrived. So this time, in addition to atagi, we invited another frontman, PORIN, to delve into the members' personalities once again, and talk about the changes within the band that have occurred in the six months since their debut.

-In the previous interview, we talked about the band's vision centering on Matsuzaka-kun, so this time I would like to delve into the personalities of the two frontmen. It's a bit of a big topic right off the bat, but I'd love to hear when and why music became the number one priority in your life. Atagi-kun, how are you?

atagi (Vo, Gt): I'm the only member from a rural area, and my hometown is Wakayama. I started playing the guitar when I was in 6th grade, and I wanted to get better at it, so after graduating from high school, I moved to Tokyo and entered a music school. My parents told me, "If you want to do music, go to Tokyo." "Anyway, go to the place where the information is the fastest."

atagi

-I think you went to school in Tokyo and continued your band activities after graduation.

atagi: When I was around 23, my mother was really worried about me and asked me, "What are you doing?" In other words, I lived a lazy life all the time. At that time, I was going to do it seriously, but looking back now, I didn't do it at all. In short, it was a normal freeter.

-So, since the Awesome City Club (hereafter, ACC) started, has your awareness changed quite a bit?

atagi: Well... but when it first started, it might not have changed that much. As the situation gradually changed, such as the record company being decided and the actual CD being released, it felt like my awareness gradually changed.

-I heard that you used to work in a soul bar, and I think that might have had a big impact on your musical outlook.

atagi: It's huge. At a soul bar, I saw people dancing without even knowing the name of the song, and people who hadn't known each other for five minutes before doing a cheek dance. I was. I also learned about music there, and it was around that time that I began to realize the importance of understanding music in its essence.

-Didn't you say in the last interview that "things that are momentary are heavy in calories"? I wondered if it was because working at a soul bar and coming into contact with the essence of her music created a yearning for something that could be listened to for a long time.

atagi: We have aspirations, but looking back on it now, I feel like we had some of our own poses in those remarks. Until I did ACC, I was in an alternative band, so I think it was simply a reaction to that feeling that made me want to go in the opposite direction. But now that I've been in the band for quite some time, I feel relieved, and now I'm no longer afraid to say what I'm really thinking without choosing words.

-By the way, what kind of person is atagi-kun from PORIN's point of view?

PORIN (Vo,Syn): I think I've been putting out the elements recently.

- Finally? (smile)

PORIN: I often get a glimpse of "This must be the original atagi-kun". I can really feel that the burden on my shoulders has been lifted. As for what kind of person he is, I think he's a nervous person, but I think that's why he can write good songs.

- So when did music become your number one priority, PORIN?

PORIN: It's really only recently that I've started thinking about things around music. It's because my sense of responsibility has increased more and more in my activities, and it's becoming more and more clear what I'm expected to do and what I have to do.

PORIN

-Did you always have a strong desire to express yourself?

PORIN: Right. I've always liked doing things in front of people, and I was the type to stand in front of the class as a member of the class committee and speak out loudly during debates (laughs). That's why, even though the way I express myself keeps changing, my desire to express myself will always remain the same.

-What kind of person is PORIN from atagi's point of view?

atagi: I'm still absorbing a lot of things, so I feel like I'm still in my teenage years (laughs). But I think there is also a part that is unexpectedly stoic. Before, I was like, "I don't care which one", but recently I've become more determined.

PORIN: I've been stoic about what I decided to do since I was little, so I guess it will change if I'm prepared.

atagi: You're so serious.

PORIN: I'm serious (laughs).
