Mid-range 5G smartphone "HUAWEI P40 lite 5G"

On June 2, Huawei Japan announced new products such as smartphones, tablets and PCs. Following the cancellation of the state of emergency by the government, a product experience session was held in consideration of safety.

However, from this time on, Google's mobile service (GMS) is no longer installed in mid-range smartphones and tablets, so it is expected to be difficult to develop.

Huawei's mid-range "HUAWEI P lite" series has become one of the company's leading selling models, with the "HUAWEI P30 lite" becoming the best seller in Japan.

The new model "HUAWEI P40 lite 5G" that follows this is the first HUAWEI P lite series to support 5G. Domestic 5G smartphones have been preceded by high-end smartphones, but we have put them in the affordable price range of 39,800 yen excluding tax.

However, what is worrisome is the app support that affects most people rather than 5G, which has a limited area. From this generation, Google's mobile service (GMS) has been removed and the app is no longer available from the Google Play store.

Although it was in the midrange, it was compatible with 5G, but it was not equipped with GMS.

Huawei released the GMS-equipped "HUAWEI nova lite 3+" at the end of May, but this is positioned as a derivative model with increased storage capacity of the HUAWEI nova lite 3. Recently, Huawei has used these techniques to "extend the life" of GMS-equipped aircraft.

However, it was not possible to continue to prolong such life forever, and finally, even for mid-range smartphones, we decided to launch a machine without GMS.
