See the bench results and smartphone cooperation of HUAWEI Huawei "HUAWEI MateBook X Pro NEW"

Huawei's premium mobile "HUAWEI MateBook X Pro NEW" just released. Performance has been improved compared to the previous model, such as installing the 10th generation Core series. In the previous road test, we looked at the specifications in detail, but this time we would like to report on a detailed check of performance and smartphone cooperation, which can be said to be a function unique to this machine.

Let's take a closer look at the performance of "HUAWEI MateBook X Pro NEW", which has an attractive function of linking with the same Huawei smartphone.

High ability produced by the 10th generation Core "Comet Lake" and the external GPU "GeForce MX250"

What is still worrisome about this model is the performance of the latest 10th generation Intel Core i7-10510U (1.8GHz, maximum 4.9GHz 4 cores / 8 threads) combined with the NVIDIA GeForce MX250. The Core i7-10510U is also known as the development code "Comet Lake" and is manufactured by the same 14nm process as the conventional 8th generation Core i7-8565U (development code is "Whisky Lake"), and the same 4 cores / 8 threads. .. On the other hand, the maximum clock has increased from 4.6GHz to 4.9GHz, and the package size has also become smaller.

In addition, the graphics GeForce MX150 used in the conventional model has been changed to GeForce MX250. The basic configuration has not changed, but the operating frequency has improved a little for both bass and boost. In addition, HUAWEI MateBook X Pro NEW also has a model equipped with Core i5-10210U (1.6GHz, maximum 4.2GHz), and this graphic is "Intel UHD Graphics 620" with a built-in CPU.

Graphics information with GPU-Z

I immediately ran a standard benchmark test. First of all, from "Cinebench R20" to see the performance of the CPU. It measures both single-core and multi-core.

Results from "Cinebench R20"

The result is 1292pts for multi-core and 406pts for single-core. It doesn't feel heavy to use, so it's comfortable for both business apps and online browsing.

Then, I ran "PCMark 10" to measure the performance of the app.

Result of "PCMark 10"

As a result, the score is 3779 and the score of the rendering application is a little severe, but the app score is as high as 10,063. Unless it's a highly demanding task like a creative app, you'll be comfortable with it.

I also tried "3DMark" to see the performance of graphics.

The result of "3DMark".Comparison between built-in GPU and GeForce MX 250

The result was 963 for DirectX 12 "Time Spy" and 2502 for DirectX 11 "Fire Strike". With graphics with a built-in CPU, Time Spy is 430 and Fire Strike is 1085, so with the GeForce MX 250 installed, the number has been raised to about 2 to 2.5 times. In this case, even if it is impossible to play 3D gorigori games, if it is light, it should be enough. This machine is not a gaming machine, so it would be enough if it had this level of performance.

By the way, I mentioned that I can hardly hear the fan's sound even if I did the benchmark test last time, but it was at the time of the CPU test "Cinebench R20", and the graphics such as "PCMark 10" and "3DMark" are also heavily loaded. With the app, the rotation speed is really fast. However, it's not a very annoying sound and shouldn't interfere with your work. The bottom and part of the keyboard get hot, but the load from the benchmark test is close to the limit, so you don't have to worry too much.

From the results of 3DMark, I expected that it would be fun to play a relatively light 3D game, so I also ran a benchmark test of "Dragon Quest X". The result was a score of 10103 for full HD and the highest quality settings, and 15518 for a 1280x720 resolution. All of them are rated "very comfortable", so you should be able to fully enjoy even the highest quality in full HD.

Storage performance was measured with "CrystalDiskMark 7.0.0". It is equipped with a PCIe-connected SSD with a capacity of 1TB. Sequential read is 3420MB / sec and sequential write is 3018MB / sec, which is the fastest result in the class. Actually, file operations and application startup are comfortable, and I don't feel any stress.

I also checked the battery performance. Despite its thin housing, this product is equipped with a large capacity battery of 56Wh. The driving time is about 14.9 hours based on JEITA 2.0. Considering that the screen resolution is 3000 x 2000 dots, it's been a long time.

I continued to loop the full HD video that was actually placed on the local drive and tested how long it would drive. The brightness of the display is 10% and the application used is "VLC". It is measured in full screen display.

The result was about 9 hours and 53 minutes, which was a sufficient driving time. Even driving a 3000 x 2000 dot LCD consumes a lot of battery power, so if you can use it for nearly 10 hours, you can use it without charging even if you work for a day. The brightness of 10% may seem quite dark, but in reality it is a level that looks clear even under fluorescent lights. If you use it indoors, 20 to 30% is enough even if it is high.

I tried using it in my daily life, such as watching the internet and watching videos, but I was never worried that the battery was running low. There is a mobile PC with a staring contest with the remaining battery power, so there is a sense of security even if you use it outside. Also, since charging can be done via USB Type-C, it's nice that you don't necessarily need the included AC adapter.
