Don't worry if you can't buy the latest GPU!
"Cyberpunk 2077", the load is amazing when using ray training. This is the second coming level of "Crysis". Even the Nvidia RTX 3080 can barely beat it at max settings, so a modern high-end GPU is a must for the best possible visuals. …That's probably a given, but it's also true that the hurdles to getting the latest GPU are high (in many ways) for many people. Even with Crysis, if I didn't have the money to upgrade my machine, I'd do it.
But when Crysis launched in 2007, cloud gaming was a distant fantasy. On the other hand, although there are issues with line speeds, the cloud option has become a reality. And for those using RTX 2060 and earlier, the cloud is the perfect place to play Cyberpunk 2077.
Limits of current GPUs
Currently, GPUs are not only expensive, but also hard to come by because they are out of stock. Whether it's on an auction site, or whether it's quietly left in a parts shop (probably not), I keep checking to see if I can finally buy it. Still, to get the most out of Cyberpunk 2077, you'll need an Nvidia GPU capable of bursting framerates. If you want the highest graphics settings for 4K, you can't get 60FPS unless you also turn on DLSS on the RTX 3080 and overclock.
AMD and CD Projekt Red are working hard to implement raytracing on the AMD Radeon RX 6000 series, but it seems that turning on raytracing on the RX 6000 series will be quite painful. So even with the RX 6800 XT, at 1,080p you need to set the graphics settings to medium or use the DLSS-like feature Super Resolution (which is not yet available on the latest generation). With the current AMD GPU, it seems impossible to play "Cyberpunk 2077" with ray training this year.
The numbers show why. I will post the test results of each GPU below, but the test environment is CPU Intel Core i9-10900K, motherboard Asus ROG Maximus XII Extreme, DRAM 16GB (8GB x 2) G.Skill Trident Z Royal DDR4- 3600MHz, SSD is Samsung 970 Evo 500 GB M.2 PCIe, PSU is Seasonic's 1000W, CPU cooler is Corsair's H150i Pro RGB 360mm. For comparison, everyone has the same configuration except for the GPU. Cloud testing was done with an Ethernet connection to an Asus ROG Rapture GT-AC2900 (router). At that time, the download speed was 400Mbps, but in fact, it is not essential, and cloud gaming is possible as long as the speed is at least 50Mbps.
In the graph above, I don't show results for all cards with raytracing turned on without DLSS, because the results were so low that it didn't make sense to make a graph for it. Without DLSS and with raytracing turned on, the framerate dropped an average of 40FPS. In the case of the RTX 3080, 43 fps can be output with 1,080p ultra graphics, but the RTX 3070 is in the 30 FPS range with the same settings, and the RTX 3060 Ti is in the 20 range. At 1440p and 4K, the RTX 3080 managed to squeeze out 37FPS and 17FPS, respectively. Even the RTX 3080 is tough with DLSS off.
You don't need to use DLSS for ultra graphics 1,080p with raytracing off, but for RTX 2070 Super and below, you have to turn DLSS on regardless of whether it's ultra settings or not. 60FPS at 1080p is rare on mid-range or budget cards, so you'll need to turn on DLSS or lower your graphics settings, the latter of which goes against how you enjoy this game. . For example, on a GTX 1660 Super, if you want to get more than 60FPS at 1080p, you have to set the graphics settings to medium. With this setting, the frame rate will be 15 FPS with the medium setting, and you can't get more than that. DLSS is only available on the RTX series and not on the GTX 1660 Super.
Furthermore, in the case of PC, there are various bugs. Most of them are accompanied by crashes, such as when reloading the game or when trying to go from 1080p to 1440p resolution (so bad on previous generation consoles that CD Projekt Red offered a refund). ). Even with the latest patch, this issue still persists.
I'm more comfortable in the cloud
I don't run into as many bugs as I used to, but when I play Cyberpunk 2077, I prefer to play on Stadia or GeForce Now rather than on a high-end PC. is much smoother. Even when playing in the cloud, there were occasional freezes and crashes, and I had to close the program in Task Manager, but overall it's a lot more comfortable than on a PC.
The amount of data is a concern in the cloud, but it wasn't as much of an issue as I thought it would be, and I was able to play in 4K in Raythreon just fine. It's nice for people who have a limit on the amount of data transfer. The amount of data transferred depends on what is happening in the game. If a lot of enemies and allies come out and it becomes a gunfight, the amount of data will increase, and if you are just organizing your inventory in the apartment alone, it will be less. It's about how much data is going in and out of the device.
I looked at my router traffic analysis, and when I played 4 hours of heavy combat missions in 4K on Stadia, I used 28GB of data, or 7GB/hour. On a lighter mission, I got 14GB at the same performance settings for the same amount of time. Even with GeForce Now, it was about the same amount of data with 1,080p Ray Leon.
The amount of data may vary depending on your smartphone, TV, or other device, but at least for PCs, it wasn't too bad. Of course, the same is true for Macs. If the maximum data transfer amount is 1.2TB, even if you play "Cyberpunk 2077" for 4 hours every day for a month, it will be less than 800GB. But it's always a good idea to check your data usage on a daily basis, especially if you're not alone at home and using the internet.
Stadia's performance settings aren't as granular as GeForce Now, and you can't do raytracing, but the Pro subscription lets you go up to 4K resolution. GeForce Now has a maximum resolution of 1,080p, but you can use raytracing and DLSS, and the Founders Subscription is $5 a month, and for 4K only, it's $10 a month. Not landed in Japan) It is half the cost of Stadia. If you're looking to upgrade your PC, GeForce Now seems wiser, as it means you can play games from platforms like Steam, Epic, and GOG that you already have in your library.
Founders Subscription means less waiting time for your game environment on Nvidia (it's first come, first served). But Stadia doesn't have queues. It may take a while for the game to load depending on how busy the server is, but once you're on the server you should be fine. The graphics may be a little blurry depending on your connection speed, but at the best settings you will always get 60FPS. As you can see in the image above, GeForce Now with ray tracing has better graphics than 4K on Stadia.
According to Steam's most recent hardware survey, 37.3% of people are using graphics cards prior to the GTX 1660 Super. If you're in that 37.3%, Cyberpunk 2077 should be much better played in the cloud, in the sense that it doesn't depend on your PC's specs.
