Huawei Japan announced the 13-inch notebook PC "HUAWEI MateBook 13" on March 5th. The CPU is equipped with the 8th generation Intel Core processor, and Core i5-8265U (1.6GHz) model and Core i7-8565U (1.8GHz) model are available. There are 4 models in total, with and without Microsoft Office Home & Business 2019.
The Core i5 model will be released on March 15th, and the Core i7 model will be released in late March. It will be sold at mass retailers and shopping sites such as Amazon. The price excluding tax is 99,880 yen for the model without Core i5 / Office, 122,880 yen for the model with Core i5 / Office, 129,880 yen for the model without Core i7 / Office, and 152,880 yen for the model with Core i7 / Office.
Other main specifications are OS Windows 10 Home 64bit, memory LPDDR3-2133 8GB, graphics Intel UHD Graphics 620 (CPU built-in). Storage is PCIe NVMe SSD, Core i5 model is 256GB, Core i7 model is 512GB.
The main body size is about W286 x D211 x H14.9 mm, and the weight is about 1.28 kg. Since it is a metal body, it is a little heavy for a 13-inch notebook PC, but when you touch the prototype lightly, it seems to have high rigidity. The edges have a rounded diamond cut, which alleviates the "heavy feeling when held". There is one color variation, Space Gray, but there is also Mystic Silver for corporate use only.
The 13-inch liquid crystal display is an IPS type glare type, with a resolution of 2,160 x 1,440 dots (200PPI), an aspect ratio of 3: 2, a brightness of 300nit, and a contrast ratio of 1,000: 1. Covers 100% of sRGB as a color gamut. As it is said to be a "full display notebook," it uses a slim bezel with a width of about 4.4 mm, increasing the screen occupancy to about 88%. Huawei has generously put the know-how it has cultivated on smartphones into displays with a high screen occupancy rate.
Interfaces are about 1 million pixel Web camera, IEEE802.11ac / a / b / g / n compliant wireless LAN (2 x 2 MIMO), Bluetooth 5.0, USB 3.1 Gen1 Type-C x 2 port, headset jack. For USB 3.1 Gen1 Type-C, the left side of the main unit doubles as charging and the right side of the main body doubles as DisplayPort.
Includes "HUAWEI MateDock 2" to add various interfaces with USB Type-C connection to supplement the USB port of the main unit. Equipped with USB Type-A, USB Type-C, HDMI output, and D-Sub output.
Battery life is as long as about 14.7 hours with JEITA 2.0. As a guide, it takes about 10.1 hours to play 1080p videos saved locally and about 7.3 hours to browse the Web.
The included AC adapter (pocket charger) is a quick charge type that can be used for about 2.5 hours by connecting to the MateBook 13 and charging for 15 minutes. Although it is not compatible with USB PD, it covers the output of 9V / 2A, 5V / 2A, 5V / 1A (when I looked at the AC adapter body of the trial machine, 5V / 1A was not written, 12V / 2A , 15V / 3A, 20V / 3.25A).

With Wi-Fi direct communication, you can transfer photos and videos saved on your smartphone to the HUAWEI MateBook 13, and transfer and save screenshots on the HUAWEI MateBook 13 side to your smartphone.
