Ricoh announced the omnidirectional camera "THETA X" for overseas. Ricoh has worked on the THETA series of omnidirectional cameras (360-degree cameras), such as the entry-level THETA SC2 and the flagship THETA Z1 capable of 4K shooting. It can be said that this model has reached one goal.
Easy operation without a smartphone
“THETA X” is equipped with a 2.25-inch LCD touch display, allowing various operations to be performed by touch. Previous models could not change settings without a smartphone, but finally all operations can be done with just the main unit. This evolution is great.
Equipped with a 1/2 inch sensor, it can shoot still images at up to 60MP and videos at up to 5.7K/30fps. It has up to 46GB of internal storage and now supports microSD cards (finally!). The battery is replaceable, and the same "DB-110" as the "GR III" can be used. It also has a new GPS function.
The easiest to use THETA
RICOH THETA X - Spherical Image - RICOH THETA360-degree photography is suitable for business purposes, such as real estate interior photography and live photography. The new THETA X can be used without a smartphone, so it should be a very easy-to-use model for both work and private life! On the other hand, in terms of sensor size, "THETA Z1" is equipped with a 1-inch sensor, so it may be middle class in terms of image quality. But the introductory photo above is also beautiful.
It is said that the domestic release of "THETA X" is being considered around the spring of 2022. With the image quality of the GR III and the spatial photography of the THETA X, isn't it possible to have a dual wielding style that uses a shared battery?
